When I was pregnant with the twins my sister-in-law took us on the Polar Express. The Heber Valley Railroad puts on what they call The North Pole Express which used to be called the Polar Express but I guess they got busted for copyright infringement because they have since changed the name. It was really fun when we went when I was pregnant so I wanted to take the girls when they got old enough. I had no idea how expensive it was going to be ($32 for an adult ticket, yikes!) But we went anyway because we are made of money.
The girls had a blast.
All the kids dress in their pajamas.
This was our narrator - Jack Frost.
He actually spray painted that jacket himself.
We were running very late and barely made the train (literally had to run to catch the train and park illegally, ya I let the kids sleep too long and then had to put gas in my car) so we sat right next to the narrator. It ended up working out for us because we were on the Santa side.
They gave us cookies and hot cocoa (which is what is all over Eden's face).
Peanut enjoyed her cookie too (as you can see by the cookie on my coat sleeve).
We took the train to the North Pole.
Of course I missed Santa waiving outside the window but here's right after that (I hate my camera!)
We sang lots of Christmas carols.
Eden was so excited because during "The 12 Days Of Christmas" she got to hold up the 6th day.
She was so cute and would hold it up even when it wasn't the 6th day.
Then Santa got on the train and gave everyone a gift.
This is the best picture I could get of the girls holding their jingle bells from Santa.
They even had elves and cooks on the train just like the book.
But I do have one complaint, don't get high school kids to play eleves. They aren't exactly up for doing things that might seem embarassing, like, I don't know, dressing up like eleves.
The kids had a blast and so did we although I think this may become an every other year tradition. It's just too expensive to do every year.
