Sometimes Eden notices that Georgia is different and sometimes she doesn't seem to notice at all. Lately the biggest thing she has noticed is Georgia doesn't talk. Like today she said "I can talk because I'm a big girl but Georgia can't talk because she's a baby." I first of all tried to explain that Georgia is a big girl too, that she is the same age. Eden was having no part of that, in her mind Georgia is a little baby. So I then tried to explain that Georgia talks in her own way and Georgia can't talk like her because her brain just doesn't work right but that we love Georgia and she loves us and she doesn't need to talk for us to know that. At this point she asked where her cup was. I guess its not important to her that her sister doesn't talk. I'm partly convinced that Georgia doesn't talk because she doesn't need to. She makes all her wants and wishes known without saying a word. Her facial expressions say everything. Plus, Eden seems to answer for her for most things any way.
Another thing we've been talking a lot about is the girls' birthday. Eden is very excited to have her birthday and keeps telling me what she wants for her "Princess 'Rora birthday in April." When I asked her what kind of party we should have for Georgia she said Cinderella (of course). But when I said we would have a Princess 'Rora and Cinderella party she was having no part of it. She said that Georgia could have her Cinderella party later. When I tried to explain that Georgia had the same birthday and we would do their parties together she just told me "No me first, then Georgia can have her Cinderella party later." After about 10 minutes of me trying to explain the whole shared birthday, twins thing, she finally agreed to let Georgia have her birthday party with her.
I know as the girls get older these talks will become more frequent and more difficult. I try to always explain to Eden how lucky she is to have a very special sister and how much we love Georgia and she loves us. Its VERY important to me that Eden always loves Georgia and doesn't resent the attention she gets from me. I always want them to be close no matter the differences.
