New Year's Eve is always hard for us. Its the day we were told that Georgia wasn't going to live. So this year we decided instead of sulking we would throw a New Year's Eve party. Last year we threw an ugly sweater party with our neighbors and we had so much fun we decided to do it again but with a different group of friends. We originally were going to do it before Christmas but with everyone's crazy holiday schedules it got too hectic and we decided to move it so more people would come (at least that was our thinking). It turned out only 2 other couples came which ended up being super fun any way.
Darryl and I stepped up our game this year and crafted our own sweaters.
This picture doesn't do it justice but mine was amazing. It started out with embroidered and beaded palm trees which I then added lights to. I also added a penguin on a surf board and some tinsel.
The back was truly spectacular. It had a snowman with sunglasses and said Mele Kalikimaka which is what the Hawaiians say on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day. It was glorious.
Clarrissa and Garrett went for a cross dressing approach.
While Will went for the Cosby sweater and Julie went for the classic Christmas sweater complete with mitten pockets.
Darryl and I clearly won but we exempted ourselves from the contest so Will won the major award for his Cosby sweater. This years award - a camouflage Snuggie to cover and hide from the hideousness.
Clarissa and Garrett received the runner up prize because their sweaters were Beastly.
White elephants were a hit once again.
We recycled the fingers crossed statue.
Who doesn't want a romance novel and a Jackelope
Garrett was truly excited!
And Darryl and I are now the proud owners of the made for TV movie with John Travolta "The Boy In The Plastic Bubble" and a skunk cat toy which Eden has been playing with for days and loving.
We had a blast despite the lack of attendance. Don't worry we've saved our sweaters so next year if anyone needs them we will be happy to loan them out.
